Adoption fees help cover the care and medical expenses of the animals at One Wish, ensuring they receive proper vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, and any necessary treatments before finding their forever homes.
Additionally, adoption fees help ensure that potential adopters are serious and committed to providing a loving home.
Please note that One Wish Rescue is entirely volunteer-run, and no volunteers receive compensation—all funds go directly toward helping animals in need.
Thank you for your support in giving rescue animals a second chance!
A barn cat is a feral or semi-feral cat that is not suitable for traditional adoption due to its lack of socialization with humans. These cats are typically over five months old and have lived primarily outdoors.
Barn cat programs provide a humane alternative to euthanasia by spaying/neutering, vaccinating, and placing these cats in safe barn environments where they can live independently while helping control rodent populations.
Once adopted, the barn cat is introduced to its new home, where it can thrive in a natural, outdoor setting while providing valuable pest control. If you have a feral cat that is not adoptable as a pet, consider reaching out to a local barn cat program for placement
Most animal shelters and rescues have foster programs to care for animals that are too young, sick, or not yet ready for adoption. Fosters provide a temporary home until the animal is adopted or able to return to the shelter. The length of foster care varies, but many programs allow fosters to return the animal after at least a week if needed. In most cases, the rescue covers the cost of food, medical care, and supplies.
Fostering saves lives, especially for newborn kittens and puppies, who often don’t survive in shelters due to a lack of one-on-one care. Sick, elderly, and neonatal (under two weeks old) animals also have weak immune systems and are at high risk in crowded shelters. Foster homes give them a safe environment to recover and grow, greatly increasing their chances of survival.
Before fostering, ensure your household is prepared. If you have other pets, be aware that foster animals may have been exposed to illnesses in shelters. To protect your pets, it’s recommended to quarantine fosters in a separate room for at least two weeks before introductions.
Fostering is a rewarding experience that provides vulnerable animals with a second chance at life!
